Anglo Renewables is thrilled to announce that planning consent has been granted for the 49.9MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Whites Farm following a successful appeal. This victory is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team, who successfully challenged the initial decision to reject the project.
Despite facing the hurdle of the site being located on green belt land, the team was able to demonstrate that the project's significant contribution to renewable energy, a Critical National Priority, represented Very Special Circumstances. This allowed the plans to proceed, marking a major step forward in our commitment to delivering innovative and sustainable energy solutions.
The Whites Farm BESS scheme represents a significant investment in clean energy infrastructure and once operational will contribute to meeting the UK's ambitious renewable energy targets.
Anglo Renewables' Managing Director, James Stone, said; ‘’Anglo are really pleased to receive planning consent from this scheme after a drawn-out planning process. We look forward to working with UK Power Networks and our partners to see the project delivered and the benefits realised."
We look forward to sharing further updates on the Whites Farm BESS scheme as the project progresses.
