Anglo Renewables is pleased to announce that planning consent has been granted for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Lowlands Farm, Illey Lane, Halesowen, following a successful appeal. This decision marks a significant step in supporting the UK's commitment to achieving net zero by 2050. The project will provide vital storage for renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar, helping to balance the energy grid during periods of low demand.
The successful appeal demonstrates the value of collaboration between planners, ecologists, and energy experts in delivering critical infrastructure while ensuring minimal impact on local ecology and heritage. The BESS will not only support the national energy system but also contribute to Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council's goal of becoming a net zero borough by 2041.
James Stone, Managing Director at Anglo Renewables, says “We are delighted that this proposal has been approved, making it the latest renewable energy project we have secured permission for within the UK in order to support the country’s legislated target of reaching Net Zero by 2050.”
